One day a couple of months ago, a client asked me how my plans were coming along for my upcoming trek. As we were chatting I realized that, while there were significant differences, there were also many similarities between my trek and her journey to return to work after some time off because of mental health challenges. Both seemed like enormous challenges that would certainly test us and both required careful preparation and training. A Kilimanjaro is a challenge that seems enormous. This may be returning to work, overcoming addictions, working through disabling mental health challenges or problems in our relationships. It may be attempting a triathlon, cleaning your house or coming out to family and friends. While all Kilimanjaros are different, our struggles with them highlight our common humanity. We hope that this campaign will help you in your journey. We want to provide opportunities to think and talk about your Kilimanjaro. Over the course of the next few weeks we will offer challenges that you are welcome to do or not do. We will also provide resources such as articles, videos and inspirational quotes. Our first challenge for you is to ask someone in your life what their Kilimanjaro is. It is okay if you do not know what yours is at this time. Please feel free to post your thought and oberservations on our Facebook page.
