Established in 1914, Family Services Ottawa (FSO) is a key provider of accessible counselling and support services to the residents of Ottawa. With 60 qualified staff and a budget of five million, this not-for-profit organization offers a wide array of programs supporting mental health issues, anti-violence, parenting, employee assistance, LGBTTQ+ etc. FSO is a values-driven organization and envisions, ‘A community where families and individuals are strong and resilient, and have the support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.’ Family Services Ottawa is now looking for a visionary Executive Director to maintain the successful trajectory of this valuable community service and ensure that it continues to play a vital role in the health services continuum.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the new Executive Director will work with the Board to develop a vision and strategy that creates visibility and impact for FSO, while building on its established brand, and refining programs to address the changing needs of the community. The ED will work with provincial funders and community partners to provide evidence-based treatment and programs in a timely fashion to those in need. They will build networks of influence with potential funders and granting agencies that strengthen the long-term sustainability of the organization.
As the ideal candidate, you bring relevant leadership experience along with a proven track record in delivering health/social services programming. Entrepreneurial by nature, you are results-oriented, analytical, and articulate. You will highlight the positive impact that FSO has in the community to the Board, funders, and other key stakeholders. You have raised the visibility of an organization through high-level community engagement and a proactive approach to program management. An outstanding communicator and public speaker, you possess a high level of diplomacy, sensitivity, and judgment. You have established secure and stable funding models that enable improved service delivery. You value your staff and believe in cultivating strong, cohesive, and supportive teams. Candidates with experience in unionized environments and fluency in both official languages will be strongly considered.

The Parenting Program offers a wide variety of parenting courses and workshops on a range of topics. Our goal is to help parents through the difficulties that come with parenthood by providing information, resources and tools to help parents become the best parent that they can be.
We currently have an opening for a facilitator to lead our September 17 to November 12 Just for Dads…The Nuts and Bolts of Parenting course. This course is designed for all Dads, including those who are clients of the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, who have children between the ages of 6 and 16. The course is highly interactive and provides Dads with the opportunity to learn and practice skills and techniques in a supportive environment.
We are looking for a dynamic, engaging and experienced facilitator to deliver a course content developed by Family Services Ottawa. Activities include providing parenting information, group facilitation, leading experiential exercises, maintaining attendance records, administering program evaluations and referring participants to other community resources as required.
This group is offered Monday evenings each week for 8 weeks.
