Our 98th Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday June 26th, 2012. Staff, Alumni, Volunteers and the Board of Directors came together to reflect on the past year and to look to the future.
Each year as part of our AGM we present the Joan Gullen Award to a worthy individual or group. In its 16th year, the award is to honour those who have made this city a better place and to recognize and reward significant contributions to the process of Social Justice in the communities of Ottawa. The award itself is a decorative plate by the artist Chandler Swain and it hangs in our reception area above a list of former winners.
The 2012 recipient of this award is the Foster Parent Association for the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa Fostering is a challenging but rewarding job, which provides a safe, nurturing and secure family environment for children and young people needing care. They work tirelessly to ensure the children in their homes receive the best possible care. The child welfare system in Ottawa could not function without these highly dedicated people. Fostering can change the life of a child. Each life touched by fostering can help to build a stronger community. We are happy that we had this opportunity to thank the Foster Parent Association for the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa for their dedication and commitment to the children and youth of Ottawa.
