I just met with my team to go over final preparations. Our route has changed slightly with the hope that spending more time at altitude will increase our chances of reaching the top by spending more time at higher altitudes. So, night 4 will be spent at the Lava Tower; night 5 at Baranco camp; and night 6 at Barafu camp. I am going to do some short videos of my fellow trekkers and, if the technology allows, I will post them so that you will be able to meet them. I actually have many teams. I am thankful of your support and appreciate all the messages of encouragement that I have received. I also have support from my team at Family Services Ottawa who will be continuing to post while I am hiking and checking the poster board in Ottawa. I will be hiking with four other trekkers. There will also be two guides, a cook, and several porters. After doing a lot of hiking in Canada without support, it seems strange to need so much support but it is required by Mt. Kilimanjaro park, provides important employment and will increase our chances of reaching the top successfully. It was great to meet our head guide today and go over the last minute changes. – mark.
Mark also sent us a video on September 11th. It can be viewed at www.facebook.com/whatsyourkilimanjaro
