A concurrent group for children and their mothers
For: Children and their mothers who report the experience of woman abuse which can include emotional, physical, verbal and sexual abuse. Both groups are run at the same time.
Ages: Children between the ages of 6 to 10
Purpose: To break the cycle of violence and help children and mothers build safety in their environments. To help children heal from the experience of witnessing violence.
How: Through creative art based activities that support participants to learn new ways of ways of thinking and acting, groups help children explore their strengths and better understand their thoughts and feelings. Two facilitators for each group.
Place: Family Services Ottawa, 312 Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa
When: 12 Weekly Sessions. Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Childcare: Money is available to assist with childcare costs.
Transportation: Money is available to assist with transportation costs.
