Family Service Ottawa (FSO) is a multi-service, non-profit organization that provides programs, support and counselling to individuals and families.  We offer a wide range of services including parenting, anti-violence, mental health services and LGBTTQ programs that make lasting improvements in people’s lives.


Position Summary

The coordinator of the Supervised Access Program (SAP) is responsible for a service that provides the opportunity for children to visit with their non-custodial parent in a safe, secure and neutral setting. Supervised Access is a challenging and multifaceted program that offers an important service to families in Ottawa.



  • Ensure overall quality of client services
  • Responsible for all aspects of client intake and management
  • Coordinate on-site program staff including development and delivery of training
  • Maintain statistical and evaluation information
  • Represent SAP to community groups
  • Coordinate and support a community advisory committee


Qualifications and Experience  

  • MSW or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of experience in the field
  • Experience working with and knowledge of custody and access issues
  • Experience working with family court, court orders and lawyers
  • Understanding of domestic violence and the issues related to family separation
  • Experience and knowledge of child-centred interventions
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated skill at working with culturally diverse populations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skilled at building rapport; exceptional skills with conflict resolution and setting limits


Terms and Conditions     

  • Some evening and weekend work is required
  • Must pass criminal reference check
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is essential
  • Some local travel is required
