Two Ottawa area families were honoured with the Joan Gullen Award at our June Annual General Meeting. Since 1998, Family Services Ottawa has formally recognized the work of individuals who make significant contributions to improving social justice in our community. This year, for the first time ever, the award was shared by two families – the Schaettgen and the Lowthian/Rickert families. The parents and children in these two families were honoured for their work to create a just and safer life for families with children who identify as gender creative, gender fluid, transgendered. Their advocacy for the rights of children who are gender creative, gender fluid, transgendered is paving the way for the health and wellness of all families. Please feel free to view the CTV News video to learn more about this year’s Joan Gullen recipients.
