The Art Studio
The Art Studio is a unique service for artists who live with mental health challenges. The studio offers a warm and welcoming, creative space where artists can pursue their art and are supported to express their creativity.
The Art Studio is a partnership between Family Services Ottawa, Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Hintonburg Community Centre, City of Ottawa Community Arts Program, and Psychiatric Survivors of Ottawa.
The Art Studio is open on Thursdays from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m., on a drop-in basis, at 1064 Wellington Street West (in the Hintonburg Community Centre). All artists who live with mental health challenges are welcome to come to paint or draw and talk about the creative process. We provide the art supplies and a skilled facilitator. Throughout the year, we offer free art skill-building workshops on a wide range of topics including portraiture, multi-media work, framing, or the business of art.
Please note that space in the studio is limited. The studio has working space for 12 artists at any one time. If the studio is full when you arrive, please let the coordinator know that you have arrived and sign in so that you can be offered the next available space.
