Workshop Descriptions

Connecting through Play – Thursday April 22, 2021

Register Online for this free Workshop

Play is the way children learn and grow. It is also the way they work through their emotions and deal with stress. We can support children’s play in ways that encourage this growth. At the same time, child-led play builds connections and strengthens our relationship. This presentation will give you ways to build the kind of strong relationship which will help you guide your children’s behaviour, now and all through their growing up.

Sharing Laughter and Fun:  April 29, 2021

Register Online for this free Workshop

Has the atmosphere in your home got heavier as the business of living has got more complicated this last year? Laughter and shared fun can lighten the load and leave everyone feeling better. This presentation will help you find opportunities to change the mood for everyone in the family. At the same time, you will be strengthening your family team spirit so you’re ready to solve problems together.

Receiving Advice You Didn’t Ask For: May 6, 2021

Register Online for this free Workshop

When you have a baby, you soon discover that everyone has an opinion on how you should be a good parent. Some opinions you may welcome; others you may disagree with. How do you deal with the advice you didn’t ask for? This presentation will give you some ideas of how to decide what advice to accept. You’ll also learn ways to respond when you don’t agree, even when the advice is coming from someone close to you.

Tuning Into Your Children: Strengthening Relationships and Decreasing Conflict: May 13, 2021

Register Online for this free Workshop

This presentation will focus on helping participants to understand temperament and how it comes into play in our relationships with our children as well as with others in settings such as home, day care or school.  Participants will learn how to chart the temperament differences between themselves and their child and be provided with strategies to improve the “goodness of fit” which leads towards more healthy, positive relationships and better long term outcomes for children.  The charting as well as other strategies can be adopted by key figures in the child’s life to decrease stress and conflict for all.

Preparing Children to Meet Challenges: May 20, 2021

Register Online for this free Workshop

A parent’s job is to protect children from danger, but also to prepare them for the challenges they will face as they get older. In this workshop, you’ll discover activities, games, and songs that develop the resiliency skills that help children “bounce back” from difficulties.
