Children Who Witness Violence

OUR APPROACH

This program includes individual and group counselling for children ages 6-12 who have witnessed or been exposed to the physical or emotional abuse of their mother.

PROGRAM FEATURES

Individual Counselling

This program for children focuses on topics like:

Safety
Learning to name and express feelings
Self esteem
Learning to cope with the impacts of family separation and divorce

GROUP COUNSELLING

Our group counselling is offered concurrently – children of similar age groups attend group sessions while a mothers’ group runs at the same time.

MOTHERS’ GROUP

Mothers’ group topics include:

The impact of woman abuse on children
Custody and access issues
Personal safety planning for children
Parenting
Self-esteem, self-care
